APSA Member, Family Websites Win Creative AwardsIn 2009, the APSA member Website was completely overhauled, with a new look, and enhanced features and functionality. In tandem, a separate Website for patients and their families was developed and launched to address their specific needs. Now both sites have received industry awards from separate organizations. The increased usage and favorable reviews of these sites have now been underscored by these national and international awards. Association Media and Publishing has recognized the APSA (member) website in its 2010 Excel Awards, honoring excellence in publishing products of the association industry. The APSA Web site (www.eapsa.org) has won a BRONZE award in the Website Redesign category. This category is judged on the design, presentation, functionality, accessibility, usability and aesthetic quality. Along with the revamp of the APSA site, a separate Website was also created and launched last year specifically for pediatric surgery patients and their families (http://www.pediatricsurgerymd.org). The Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals awarded the APSA Family Website a GOLD award in its 2010 Hermes Creative Awards. This is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional and emerging media. Hermes Creative Awards recognize outstanding work in the industry while promoting the philanthropic nature of marketing and communication professionals. Approximately 3,600 entries were submitted in the 2010 competition. The GOLD award is presented to those entries judged to exceed the high standards of the industry norm. We are thrilled that they found the APSA Family Website of this caliber. If you haven’t recently visited the site, please take a look at http://www.pediatricsurgerymd.org. The APSA Informatics and Telemedicine Committee has worked diligently over the past year to evaluate, update and ultimately develop and launch these now award-winning sites for members and patient families.
