Marco Island, Florida, hosted the second-largest APSA Annual Meeting ever, with nearly 800 pediatric surgery professionals from 21 countries – and every state in the U.S. – taking part in the latest research, techniques and networking opportunities. The robust educational lineup included 42 scientific sessions, 31 poster presentations, six video sessions and six innovation sessions.

We also debuted a number of enhancements:
  • Inaugural Travel Fellow Presentation. Dr. Omolara Williams, the first recipient of the Travel Fellowship, related the challenges and victories of practicing in her homeland of Nigeria.
  • Endosurgical Simulation Courses.  Attendees gained hands-on experience from experts in beginning and advanced endosurgical techniques.
  • MOC Credits. We introduced MOC Credits in addition to CME Credits.
  • Meeting App. More than 700 people used the web-based app to navigate sessions, speakers, the exhibit hall and more.
  • Twitter. APSA shared news of the meeting to the world with more than 200 uses of #eAPSA2013. Check out the buzz! Follow us @APSASurgeons.

Innovation Session. Attendees got a snapshot of the cutting-edge developments being pursued in the field.

Award Winners. View the winners of this year’s Posters of Distinction Awards, M. Judah Folkman Memorial Awards and the Sheikh Zayed Institute Award for Innovation in Pediatric Surgery.
