From the President
I welcome all visitors to the Web site of the American Pediatric Surgical Association. The year 2007/2008 promises to be very exciting and I am proud to follow in the footsteps of past presidents and to be a member of the Board of Governors.
APSA has many committees with important projects underway. For example, the Program Committee is currently developing the APSA 39th Annual Meeting program; the Education Committee is preparing a self-study course for pediatric surgeons who will be taking their recertification examinations; the Workforce Committee is studying current issues, which are faced by pediatric surgeons around the world and the Task Force on Family Issues is studying the very important effect of a career in surgery on families.
The articles and resources that are highlighted on the APSA Web site provide rapid links to information for pediatric surgeons. These resources are also designed to provide some background for families whose children are undergoing common surgical procedures.
For more information on pediatric surgeons and their qualifications, use the information on this Web site. Parents and caregivers who are seeking a pediatric surgeon can use the APSA member search engine.
APSA has many talented and hard-working members and we continue to look for ways to utilize that talent to the benefit of the association, as well as to help the health care community. I welcome any suggestions or questions, and I am honored to serve as president of this organization.
Moritz M. Ziegler, MD
