B) The intestine could not be completely placed back into the abdomen and was placed in a temporary Dacron-reinforced Silastic “silo.” C) The intestines are reduced gradually in the intensive care unit with repeated gentle downward pressure on the top of the silo. The infant is then returned to the operating room, the bowel is completely reduced, and a closure of the hole in the abdomen is performed. |
