Figures 4 and 5: In the photograph on the left, a stapler has been placed across the main blood supply to the spleen. The pancreas is to the viewer’s left of the stapler, and the spleen is to the viewer’s right. In the picture on the right side is seen the staple line across the blood supply (arrow) after the spleen has been removed.
